No smoking or pets 🚫

Maximum of six people at any time in the cottage or on the property.

Fire pits

You can find firewood in the woodshed behind Shed #3. Please bring your key—yes, it unlocks your cottage, Shed #3, and the woodshed (but not the other cottages!). Please keep your fires small, especially when there are light winds. Firewood costs $8 per bundle. You can leave your cash in the box (we use the honour system). Please don't leave any garbage in the fire pit.

Garbage, recycling & compost

Garbage goes in the green bin by the road.

Recycling goes in the blue bin under the sink, and can then be taken to the blue bin by the road.

Compost goes in the brown bin by the road.

Laundry

Please use HE (high-efficiency) detergent only, and in small amounts. Detergent is not provided but can be purchased at the local shops about 10 minutes away.
To help protect our water treatment system, please avoid using bleach.
We encourage you to use the clothesline whenever possible.

Caring for our environment

To help reduce our environmental impact, please avoid
unnecessary laundry and use only the beds you need.
Do not make up the beds when checking out.
No bottled water allowed.
We have some of the best drinking water; please enjoy it!

TV, DVD, and Chromecast

To operate the system, use the Cogeco remote:1. Press TV (top centre button), then Power. 2. Press Cable, then Power to turn on the receiver (located on the DVD player). A small green light should turn on—point the remote toward the device. 3. Select the input using the HDMI switch mounted on the wall:(1) TV (2) DVD (3) Chromecast// Important: The TV must always stay set to HDMI 2. If you’d like to connect a game console, you may unplug the only cable that isn’t secured to the wall (DVD, position 2 on the HDMI switch). Please make sure to reconnect it before you leave to avoid any reconnection fees.

Cutting boards

Please use cutting boards so as not to damage the countertops.

Help us protect this fragile environment

Please help protect this fragile environment by staying on marked trails and sticking to the beach whenever possible.

BBQs

Important: Please turn off the propane tank after use. Cottages 5 and 8 have a shutoff valve on the wall near the BBQ—make sure it’s closed (closed = horizontal position).

Open the propane tank very slowly to avoid triggering the safety valve. If it does stop the flow, turn off the tank, disconnect the hose, reconnect it, and open it slowly again. Make sure the BBQ is cool before covering. Don't forget to clean the BBQ before you check out.

Propane

Spare propane tanks are available in Shed #3, at the end of the road.
Your cottage key also unlocks the shed.
If you need to replace your tank, please leave the empty one in the shed.

Heating

Do not press the thermostat—simply wave your hand in front of it, then turn the dial to adjust the temperature.

Main floor: The master thermostat controls the overall temperature throughout the cottage. Turn the dial to increase or decrease the heat.

Bedrooms: Each bedroom has its own thermostat. Turn the dial to adjust the temperature.

Heating system
The thermostat is managed remotely by us.
It follows a default schedule, but we’re happy to adjust it
—just give us a call!

Hot tub

(Maximum of six people in the hot tub)

Please close the jets and fountain after use to help keep the water level up and hot. Everything adjusts easily—just turn gently, no need to force anything. Thanks!

The hot tub is set to 39°C (102°F). We keep it at this temperature to ensure proper filtration. After all, a hot tub is meant for relaxing—not for cooling off! In the summer, we encourage you to check out the nearby rivers if you want to cool down. Before getting in, please rinse your feet and take a quick shower.
For children, sessions should be limited to 20 minutes. Never leave children unsupervised.
If the hot tub is not working, please keep the lid on.

Alcohol & drugs: Hot water can make the effects stronger and come on faster. Alcohol can also make you drowsy—falling asleep in the hot tub can be dangerous.

In winter: Surfaces around the tub can get slippery when wet,
so take care when getting in and out.
When you’re done, please put the cover back on right away.

Playground 🤾‍♀️

The playground is for young children only and must be used under adult supervision at all times.
